The Online Beacon presents a photo gallery from the 2025 Hardman Lecture, which welcomed Jodie Ginsberg, CEO of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
All photographs in this collection were captured by Gillian Jones, photojournalist for The Berkshire Eagle and adjunct professor at MCLA. Jones has been a staff photographer and columnist for The Berkshire Eagle since 2014. She began her journalism career at The North Adams Transcript in 1992 and has been teaching photography at MCLA since 2001. A graduate of NASC/MCLA (Class of 1991), she has lived in North Adams for many years and grew up in Williamstown.
With more than three decades of experience, Jones has documented the Berkshires through both daily journalism and long-form storytelling. Her work has been featured in a 30-year retrospective exhibition and a recent in-depth interview exploring her career, approach, and contributions to local journalism.
This gallery offers a visual look into the atmosphere and community surrounding this year’s Hardman Lecture, seen through the lens of one of Berkshire County’s most accomplished photojournalists.
