The Residence Hall Association (RHA) hosted a ResLife Bazaar on May 4 at the Taconic Lawn near Smith House, giving students an opportunity to relax and socialize before finals week.
The event ran from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and featured free food, carnival-style games, outdoor activities, raffles, and a mechanical bull ride.
According to organizers Beth Harris, Destiny Rivas, and Amare Williams, the goal of the event was to bring students together and encourage community engagement before the semester ends.
“There are a lot of groups who usually don’t spend time together,” one organizer said. “We wanted students to come outside, connect, and have fun.”
Students were offered burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, vegetarian options, snacks, and drinks. Toppings and beverages were also available throughout the event.
Several inflatable carnival games were set up, including Skee-Ball, hoops, and a frog-themed game.

One of the most popular attractions was the mechanical bull, where students competed to stay on the ride as long as possible.

According to the operator, two students tied for the longest ride time at 32 seconds.
In addition to the inflatable games, students participated in activities such as cornhole, Kan Jam, Spikeball, and hacky sack.

Organizers also held a raffle featuring themed prize baskets containing games, snacks, summer items, and other prizes.
Cheyenne Laszlo, Area Coordinator, said a delivery issue caused the event to begin later than originally planned.
“There was a last-minute change,” Laszlo said. “Some of the equipment was accidentally delivered to Boston instead of North Adams.”
Despite the delay, students continued participating throughout the evening.
One attendee said the event helped students take a break from academic stress before finals.
“I got to spend time with friends and connect with my residents,” the student said. “It looked like everyone was having a great time.”
The event served as one of the final large student activities before the end of the spring semester.
